Silver Dollar City Enjoys Busy Opening

Spring is officially upon the Ozarks and with it comes the anticipation of another entertaining show season. While a majority of the shows around Branson are opening or getting ready to open their doors, the area’s most popular attraction had their grand opening for 2017 last week and saw many faces come out to celebrate.

Silver Dollar City opened their doors for the first time this year on March 15, and has been welcomed with large crowds each day of operation. From touring Marvel Cave and riding rides to buying taffy and cinnamon bread, visitors anxiously awaited an opportunity to experience everything the theme park has to offer.

While it is expected for the park to be busy during its first weeks of operation, no real problems occurred during the first few days of being open. Yes, the park was crowded and lines were long at times to experience certain attractions, but everything seemed to run smoothly and Silver Dollar City employees were great at diminishing wait times. The only downside to the park’s 2017 opening on March 15 was the weather, which maxed out at a crisp 39 degrees. However, the frigid air did not last long as the days that followed featured temperatures in the low 70s.

Silver Dollar City’s busy opening week is only the start of what’s to come for 2017. It is expected that the theme park begin its operating season with large crowds, but this year may see even more visitors flocking to its location due to the changes coming. It was recently announced that Silver Dollar City was replacing the popular World-Fest with the all-new Festival of Wonder. This festival will take place April 6 through April 30, and feature a number of world-class performances from groups such as the seven Flamenco Kings. It is certainly possible, and somewhat expected, that those who visited the park in its opening days will return in April to check out this highly anticipated festival.

The anticipation of a new festival is already enough to attract visitors, but a new ride shrouded in mystery garnered plenty of attention to its construction site as well. Silver Dollar City announced last year they were constructing a new ride for its guests to enjoy, but since then the park has been relatively quiet on any other details in order to increase excitement.

The construction site is currently visible from certain rides and parts of the park, and it is anyone’s guess as to what the new addition could be. The mysterious new ride is undoubtedly one of many reasons as to why Silver Dollar City enjoyed so much success during its first few days of being open, since everyone loves speculating on a well-kept secret. If you would like to know the truth of what this new part of the park is, there is a teaser webpage set up on Silver Dollar City’s website where you can sign up and be among the first to hear the announcement of what it is. Just visit www.silverdollarcity.com/theme-park/what-is-it and follow the directions given to stay in the know.

Mystery, changes, food and fun are just a few of the many reasons why Silver Dollar City enjoyed a busy first few days of being open. While there is no festival currently happening, there is still much to enjoy at the park and 2017 is all but guaranteed to be a successful one for the folks at the 1880s-themed amusement park.
